WHAT HAPPENED IN THE TENT
On 27/02/2026, we will be screening WHAT HAPPENED IN THE TENT, an 'acrobatic' story by documentary makers Majd Khalifeh and Roel Nollet. Beforehand, we will be organising an Iftar and there will be a discussion with Roel Nollet afterwards.
In their film, they explore the inner strength of the circus: it unites people across borders.
An exchange project between two circus schools – one on the Palestinian West Bank and one in Molenbeek – brings together two groups of young people from vulnerable backgrounds.
Each has their own story about how they are perceived by the outside world, but they try to transform the negativity, violence and discrimination they face into a constructive project.
In doing so, they discover that art can be an effective and alternative form of resistance. As soon as they step into the circus, their world changes.
For them, the circus is not just about performing acts and executing difficult tricks: it is also a way of dealing with the problems of the environment in which they live.
